I’m so happy to move past Covid and to be back photographing events!! Photos from the 2019 Juneteenth event in Denver helped with the decision to commemorate the day as a holiday in Colorado! The photos were even featured on the front page of the Denver Post:

After the Mayor announced the Colorado holiday, President Biden declared it a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of African-American slaves. That meant this year’s Juneteenth in Denver was both a celebration and lively discussion of the developments! Founder Norman Harris does such a great job with the family event, combining a parade, music, shopping, food and so much entertainment throughout several blocks of 5 points!
