K’iin Beh is a Mayan phrase meaning “the way of the sun.” The non-profit school focuses not only on providing a solid education to local children, but more importantly, it instills strong values and principles in the students. Founded in 2011 by Raquel Mitre, Ki’in Beh has grown from a preschool class of 20 children to 463 students.

Located in an unprivileged neighborhood known as Cristo Rey, in Playa del Carmen, every child receives some form of scholarship.

It was in incredible privilege to visit the dwelling of several of the students. The most impactful was the palapa shown below:
