2011 Remembering the Brave Ceremony

I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to photograph events for Remembering the Brave.  The mission of the non-profit organization is to remember the names, faces and deeds of the heroes that gave their all.  For the ceremony, gold star families (a family that has lost an active duty military member) are flown in and recognized.  While a moderator reads the citation (the description of heroism and bravery), the gold star family is presented with the soldier’s medals (some of them earned posthumously) and a bouquet of roses (one for each year of the soldier’s life).  The event took place in Denver, CO on September 10th, 2011.  Here are some images from the evening, in hopes that we all remember:
