2009 Favorites – Santa Barbara Film Festival

2009 began with a bang, photographing the Santa Barbara Film Festival!  It is now considered a world renowned event, one of the best film festivals in the world!

Joe’s Cafe on State street is a staple in Santa Barbara.  Known for serving VERY stiff drinks…each day they sponsored a complimentary drinks and cocktail happy hour for the festival!  Then for the big award events, it was on to the Arlington Theatre.

On the first night, Sean Penn presented the Modern Master Award to Clint Eastwood.  Eastwood’s limo driver went the wrong way, so Clint Eastwood had to fight through the crowd and then jump over a concrete barrier to arrive at the red carpet! The picture shows E network movie expert Leonard Maltin interviewing Eastwood after he caught his breathe.

The next pictures are Mickey Rourke and Jake Gyllenhaal… Mickey Rourke received an award presented by Francis Ford Coppola… He was very candid during interviews, saying he definitely had regrets in regards to his career, but that it’s a brutal industry.
