Just returned from a wonderful corporate job on the island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. They are two small islands that make up one country in the West Indies of the Caribbean. It’s not far (as the pelican flies) from Antigua and the Virgin Islands… Specifically, the Four Seasons Resort on the island of Nevis:

The resort truly was spectacular! Acres and acres of land including a golf course, 3 pools, boats, bars…everything Jimmy Buffett sings about! I love seeing outdoor showers…it’s like the exclamation point announcing you are in a great location:

One of the neatest experiences was heading to the Charlestown Secondary School to help paint, lay tile and pour new cement. With over 800 students and only 1 of 2 secondary schools on the island, there was plenty of work to be done! All 800 plus students wear uniforms so that a person’s wealth (or lack their of…) would not be outwardly visible… I thought that was a neat explanation for a uniform…

While the sites and landscapes are gorgeous, my favorite part of traveling abroad is meeting people! The people of Nevis were SO incredibly friendly! They ALWAYS stopped to say hello, said thank you for visiting and invited me to come back soon!

One of my favorite memories was taking a picture of a neat sticker on the back of a cab, only to become a bit nervous when the door swung open and the driver jumped out…He walked up to me and said please take another after he washes the window!!! I insisted he be in that second photo:

Although the natives aren’t that in love with them (because they eat nearly ANYTHING), I sure loved seeing the African Green Vervit Monkeys!! They were really skiddish and only really came out at sunrise and sunset, spending the rest of the time in the forest. If I would have had the chance to golf, I would have definitely blamed the monkeys for all of my bad shots and lost balls…

As a really neat bonus, while I was on this corporate photo shoot, I met an engaged couple and was asked to take engagement photos! Here are a few of my favorites:
