I’ve been lucky enough to photograph the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for a few years now and it’s one of my all-time favorite jobs! Not necessarily because of the movie stars (although that is definitely a lot of fun), but the size and scope of the event is so exciting. From red carpets to street closures and spotlights, and after parties to paparazzi, the entire event is grandiose! It’s the mid-point of this years festival and here are some images from the first half where I tried by best to capture in imagery the size and scope of this really fun festival:
All 2,000 seats of the Arlington Theater were sold out for the opening night of the film festival!
The behind the scenes planning and logistics must be mind-boggling, from juggling all of the press, security, vendors, venues, the public, the actors/actresses… Glad my job is to just click the shutter! It gets even more difficult to capture the over-all scene once the movie stars show up. At this point there are people everywhere, security, fans, photographers, videographers, interviewers, publicists and agents…and the list goes on and on. Here’s my attempt at capturing the arrivals (the cast of ‘My Darling Companion’, Viola Davis, Martin Scorsese and Christopher Plummer):
Thanks for checking out the pictures!
