Actor, writer, producer and comedy legend Will Ferrell received the 17th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
The gala was created in partnership with film legend Kirk Douglas, to celebrate and honor some of cinema’s most unforgettable contributors.
I was hired as a bellman before the hotel even opened in 2000, so it continues to be a full circle moment to return for jobs:

Kristen Wiig and Octavia Spencer helped introduce Will Ferrell and showered him with compliments. As Will Ferrell took the stage, he shared the incredible story that when he was an undergraduate student at USC, Kirk Douglas gave a talk on campus, and Ferrell and some friends bumped into him! Ferrell said, “One day, maybe I want to do what you do. And he put his hand on my heart and he said, ‘You have stories to tell, and you can do anything…” As the audience gasped, Ferrell laughed saying, “Actually, that never happened.” It was hilarious!!
