What a Wonderful Year!!! Jensen Sutta Photography Year in Review (part 1 of 2)

A HUGE thank you to everyone who hired me (Jensen Sutta Photography) and helped to make it such a wonderful year!!  Here are some highlights of the Event Photography, Portraiture, Non-Profit Events, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Photography and Children’s Photography from 2010!

The year began with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. What could be better than starting the year photographing Sandra Bullock, Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hilary Duff (among others)…?!!  It’s really an incredible experience to walk the red carpet and hear from the actors and actresses speaking candidly rather than for the camera.  Sandra Bullock seems as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!

I really enjoy corporate and event photography and was lucky enough to have a few other neat jobs throughout the year.  Here are a few images from the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute‘s event in Santa Barbara.  The highlights were a speech from Ann Coulter and a trip to Ronald Reagan’s Ranch (named Rancho del Cielo and owned by the Young American’s Foundation).  Reagan’s ranch is simply stunning and easy to see why he spent nearly a year of his presidency at the location.

One of the more unique and fun photo shoots of the year was for Sing Sing’s, a dueling piano bar in Downtown Denver.  They hired me for new images for their website and marketing material.  I learned that people that are singing along to the music rather than smiling look a little silly on camera…

A big congratulations to Jake and Sydney!  It was a pleasure to photograph their Bar and Bat Mitzvah (Bnai Mitzvah):

When it comes to event photography, the most powerful images come from photographing non-profit events!  Here are a few… The first was a very successful fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital Foundation featuring entertainment by country singer Lee Ann Womack:

On September 11th was the annual gala for the non-profit, Remembering the Brave, recognizing families of active duty soldiers that have fallen.  This is easily one of the most powerful photos shoots of 2010.  My wife was very pregnant, a day past the due date, so I was very thankful to have been able to attend.  I did not serve in the military but have a great deal of respect for those that did and continue to so…  Photographing this event is the best way I know how to say thanks for all you do:

I was lucky enough to help photograph a fundraiser to help raise money for Jeanne to fight breast cancer.  Tennis player Maria Sharapova, L.A. Laker Luke Walton and singer Marc Robillard were all helping Jeanne’s daughters Lindsey and Lauren with the event:

The other non-profit I am happy and proud to photograph for is the Rock Bottom Foundation.  On Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day they feed THOUSANDS of individuals and low-income families in Denver.  They also offer toys, flu shots, clothes and more…!

I photographed a family portrait a few years back and within a week of delivering the finished enlargements, one of the individuals in the picture passed away.  While certainly tragic, the response from the family was nothing but appreciation for the photographs I had taken.  My perspective on the importance of taking portraits has never been the same! Here are a few favorites from the year:

Here are some fun sibling images:

Here are a few of my favorite senior pictures from this year, including one senior with her mom!

The year in review wouldn’t be complete without showing a few images from Sydney and Jonathan’s engagement pictures… I take many engagement pictures, but the fun part about this shoot is that they were moving across the country, car packed to the roof with boxes and just stopped in Denver long enough for this photo shoot as they passed through!

One one hand, photographing children can be the easiest type of photography because it’s hard to take a ‘bad’ picture of a child.  However, on the other hand, they don’t smile on cue, listen very well and can have a break down at any moment…so it can also be very challenging!  Here are a few favorites from 2010:

Again, a BIG thanks to those that hired me, those that referred me, and to YOU for reading what I’ve been up to in 2010!  Tomorrow I will post the second recap that includes the amazing weddings from throughout the year….

If you like what you saw, please think of me if you or anyone you know is looking for a photographer!
