Beginning in Scotland, we spent three lovely days in and around Edinburgh. The small group traveled for a week and a half in Scotland and Ireland, and I was thrilled to accompany the group as their photographer. Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city, with a medieval Old Town and the 11th century castle overlooking it:

Fun fact, on the trip I learned that J.K. Rowling lived and wrote the Harry Potter books in Edinburgh, and it appears she drew inspiration from the city for specific places in the Wizarding World. We stayed at the Caledonian Hotel, but took trips outside of Edinburgh including to the Winton Castle and Barnbougle Castle:

Finally, the biggest day trip from Edinburgh was a trip to St. Andrews, the home of golf. The famous Old Course, with the landmark Swilcan Bridge at the 18th hole was fun to see. It’s a public course so when a golfer wasn’t playing, folks are allowed to visit the bridge. (The bottom left photo was taken through the bus window in the rain). The entire town is very small so it’s easy to explore in one afternoon, and includes the ruins of St. Andrews Castle and the University of St. Andrews, founded in 1413.

I hope to return to Scotland to explore the Highlands, Inverness and some of the islands! But the group (and my job) took us over to Ireland for the next part of the journey. The first few days we were in Cashel in County Tipperary. Dating back to medieval times, overlooking the town is the Rock of Cashel:

We had a delightful pit stop at the Green Barn for a snack and bite. They even have a B&B and gardens on site:

I’ve been lucky to visit Ireland nearly a dozen times, but this was the first trip to Midleton Distillery, home of Jameson Whiskey (and other favorites like Redbreast, Midleton, and the Spot whiskeys):

My favorite day trip of the adventure was the visit to the Gap of Dunloe. The gorgeous mountain pass is located in County Kerry, within Killarney National Park. Scenic views were around every corner and we saw it the best way possible, from traditional horse-drawn carriage rides (called jaunting cars):

After lunch the scenic tour continued with a boat ride across Killarney lakes to the 15th century Ross Castle. It was so cool!!

The crown jewel of the trip was the last 3 days…staying at the OUTSTANDING Adare Manor! 840 acres, a gorgeous Manor house that dates back to 1832, a pristine golf course, and the list can go on and on…this property is exceptional. Adding to the list is one of the most unique arrivals (or departures), I’ve ever seen…an escort from horses and hounds!

That arrival was special, but the golf course and the falconry experience was just as magical…The golf course is set to host the 2027 Ryder Cup:

I sure hope to book another corporate group or event to photograph at the Adare Manor, it sure is photogenic, elegant and one of the best properties I’ve ever experienced!

Thanks Bespoke for planning a wonderful trip to photograph!
