Park City and the Utah Olympic Park

Hard to believe this was my first job, and first ever trip to Park City. What a gorgeous area! The group stayed at the luxurious Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley right at the base of the mountain. It was such a wonderful convenience to walk a few steps out the back door of the hotel to be able to catch a gondola ride to the mountain top. Check out these views:

The group hosted a fantastic speaker, Nick Wallis. A broadcaster and journalist, he broke (and explained) a fascinating story that occurred in England called the British Post Office Scandal. Nearly 1,000 employees were falsely accused and charged of crimes!

One highlight of the area not to be missed is the Utah Olympic Park. As they describe it on their site, “Built for the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Utah Olympic Park is located in Park City, just 25 miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah. The nearly 400 acre venue houses one of only four sliding tracks in North America, six Nordic ski jumps, a 2002 Winter Games museum, and a multitude of adventure activities. Utah Olympic Park is a dynamic multi-use facility focused on developing and growing participation in winter sports in the state of Utah and is an official USOC Training Site.” While we were there, several former Olympians treated us to a demonstration:
