My wife Kiha found this amazing program back in 2007 and we have been volunteering each Christmas and Thanksgiving Day ever since. CraftWorks owns over 200 restaurants across the country, and on Christmas and Thanksgiving, they close the doors to the public to many of them and re-open them to the needy in the community. In Denver, the program on Thanksgiving feeds over a thousand individuals and families! This year Kiha’s role was to roam the restaurant handing out kids toys and games. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:
The Thanksgiving event we volunteer for is in the downtown Denver Rock Bottom Brewery. They do a fantastic job coordinating buses from many different shelters around town, but throughout the day, the line is several blocks long with those waiting to be seated that weren’t coming from shelters.
It’s such a neat day on so many levels…
On this day, more than any other, I’m sure to ask permission before taking photos, and when I approached this man and asked how he was, he replied, ‘I’m SO good, I wish EVERYONE was this good’…
