Probably not known as a mecca for destination corporate events, it sure was a surprise to have a big job in Vermont. However, upon arriving, I realized my job would be easy…It is beautiful!! Rolling green hills, blue skies, old barns and estates, and very friendly people!
I landed in Albany, New York and took a short drive towards the Equinox Resort in Manchester… Here are a few images of the scenery: From the Southern Vermont Arts Center, to the Outlet Shops, to the Orvis Flagship Store there was so much to do in Manchester, Vermont! However, by far, my favorite spot was Hildene. Built in 1905 for President Lincoln’s only son to survive to adulthood (Robert Todd Lincoln), the house stayed in the Lincoln family for 70 years.
One of the neatest pictures and stories to share about the property is that President Abraham Lincoln was born in a one room log cabin in Kentucky, and just one generation later this was his son’s home… I love how it’s illustrated in the front yard and shown in the picture below. The brick outline in the lawn shows size of the cabin:
Not only historic, but GORGEOUS property (especially for an event)!
One thing I’ve learned is that I’ve been using the term ‘quaint’ incorrectly all these years… The Manchester area of Vermont is quaint! What a wonderful place for a photography job and sure hope I get to come back one day!
