I had another reminder how gigantic California is… I had lived in Santa Barbara for nearly 8 years and never visited Newport Beach until this job! What an AMAZING area!! Here are a few images from the Newport Beach, California area and around the Resort at Pelican Hill (including the beach cottage from the Bette Midler movie, ‘Beaches‘):
Besides the neat ocean views, the Resort at Pelican Hill appears to have spared no expense in the construction and architecture. Even the pool is breathtaking! According to the resort, “More than one million glass mosaic tiles were laid by hand to form a perfect circle 136 feet in diameter, to create the Coliseum Pool!” The opening party utilized the space surrounding the pool and cabanas:
Another event took place at the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano. Originally founded in 1775, the Mission Church (Father Serra’s) is said to be the oldest building in California!
The Mission sure made for a gorgeous background for the evening reception:
And to cap off a fantastic few days of corporate event photography, there was a visit from NBA legend Jerry West. West was an All-Star player, coach, then general manager, all for the L.A. Lakers. Since then, he has been the GM and consultant for other teams as well, but my favorite trivia is that it’s his silhouette as the NBA logo! And finally, a concert by legendary singer Kenny Rogers! Of course, ‘The Gambler” is a timeless classic, but if you’ve never heard of the song, ‘The Greatest”, I can’t recommend it enough!! But you have to listen closely from start to finish because it’s lyrics are the key!
I love my job!
