My wife considers the Walters family HER second family, so I was happy to photograph when Nikki announced her engagement! I was even more excited to learn that the wedding would be held at the 400 acre Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado! There is no shortage of gorgeous scenery…from lakes to trees to patios to fields…there are so many places to photograph!!
A few months earlier, it was a really special moment to take engagement photos on the exact spot where Ben proposed. That image became the cover photo of the invitation (shown below on Nikki’s cowgirl boots):
The detail images and getting ready moments are so easy to photograph at Spruce Mountain. Between the cottage for the ladies, and the lounge for the guys, there are so many wonderful places with great light for pictures!! I really love when the flower girl helps a bride getting ready:
I’ve photographed around 300 hundred weddings so am drawn to elements that are unique and personable. It was such a fun touch that as a complete surprise to Ben, when each bridesmaid walked down the aisle, Nikki had a hand-written note delivered to him!
It’s pretty tough to top the 20-30 minutes roaming around the property taking pictures of Nikki and Ben just after their ceremony…
As gorgeous as the inside of the lodge is, it was a wonderful touch to have the dances outside under the tea lights as the sun was setting. It never ever gets old to see the expressions on the faces during mother/son, father/daughter and the first dances…I love capturing these moments!!
Special thanks to second photographer Brad Baldwin, and a HUGE congratulations to Nikki and Ben!!!
