2010 Santa Barbara Film Festival

What an unbelievable line-up…just about every major player from movies that came out this year!!  Sandra Bullock could not be any more incredible!  First she spent an hour signing autographs and answering every question along the red carpet.  Then during the Q & A session on stage she was hilarious!!  She said she was mad at Keanu Reeves for knowing not to sign up for the movie Speed 2, but failing to call her and tell her not to… Then she said the cruise ship in the movie was going so slow, she wanted to jump off of it… Seriously, she was making fun of herself and some of the movies, it was really funny and so endearing!

Sandra Bullock had incredible things to say about Forest Whitaker.  He was the director of Hope Floats, and at one point in a scene where she was struggling, he sent everyone out of the room and sat down on the floor with her to talk about the scene and to begin by focusing on her breathing… Bullock said she’ll never forget that moment or advice and carries it with her on all other challenging acting scenes.  Hillary Duff, as she walked the red carpet… Pretend that big light is actually the letter ‘C’…. I really wanted to have a picture with James Cameron and his name in lights in the background…this is the closest I came to that shot! It was neat, I’m pretty sure James Cameron had no idea that the Governator was showing up, so it was cool to see the surprise on his face.  Cameron pretty much defines the quote, ‘go big or go home’.  Not just with ‘Avatar’ but every film he has worked on were blockbusters at the time… (Abyss, Terminator, Aliens, Titanic…). The film festival played the 1975 film directed, produced and starring Kirk Douglas.  Afterwords, he came on stage and was interviewed by Quentin Tarantino.   This was an awesome moment when Kirk Douglas told Tarantino that he was 93 and most of his friends had passed so he was lonely.  He then asked Tarantino if he would be his new friend!  In response, Tarantino grabbed Kirk Douglas’ hand and kissed it.  It was so cool!
